Suicide Prevention Training

Opportunities for your agency and staff:

Lunchtime Seminar Series

An opportunity to hear the latest research and best practice on a selected topics from a range of local and visiting clinicians and specialists in the field.  Seminars run for 2 hours. Bring your own lunch, tea and coffee will be provided.  The seminars are free of charge.

Responding for Life Training Programme

The training workshops provide an opportunity for workers to have more in-depth skill development. Lead by experienced trainers and clinicians, the workshops are usually 1 or 2 days in length and allow for participants to enhance their knowledge and skills.  There is usually a nominal fee to cover catering and other workshop related costs.  Not for profit and community agencies can apply for an exemption to the fee.

The training calendar and details on workshops and seminars can be found below

On-site Training

Training can also be provided on-site at an agency. This allows for all staff to attend the training and makes the training more specific and relevant to the needs of the agency. All training programmes can be adapted in terms of length, content and format and can be delivered in evenings or weekends. There is no charge for this training.

Community Presentations

The Suicide Prevention Co-ordinator is available to give presentations to professional and community groups, e.g. parent groups. schools, service clubs, churches, community events and forums

Men are over represented in the suicide statistics both locally and nationally and have been identified as a target population for the project.  Improving the mental health of men and effective interventions to engage men especially those in crisis will be the focus of a two day symposium to be held 17/18 March 2010.  Further information about the symposium will be available in August 09.

  • Identify the training needs of their workforce
